Worldwide Competition
The Music Theatre Committee
of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in co-operation with the German Centre of ITI invites artists to participate in the second edition of a worldwide competition for the creators of new opera and music theatre.
First productions of new works, which were professionally realized anywhere in the world since January 1, 2008 may
be submitted.
The prizewinners will be invited to present their work in short lectures at the international meeting Music Theater NOW in Jönköping, Sweden as part of the Swedish Biennale in May 2013.
Practitioners and presenters from all over the world attend the meeting. Music Theatre NOW award winners receive a unique opportunity for international exposure and invaluable personal exchange with other professionals.
In addition a special workshop for all prizewinners will be held. Prizewinners will qualify for additional prizes of invitations for live performances at partner venues throughout the world.
A five-member jury from different continents including Brett Bailey, South Africa, Martin Bauer, Argentina, Beth Morrison United States,
Roland Quitt, Germany, and Danny Yung, Hong Kong will select the works.
The jury will select a total of 18 works that are exemplary in terms of the development of contemporary music theatre respective of their countries or regions of origin.
The deadline for submission was July 25th, 2012.
The winners have been announced in mid-December 2012.
